Bonner County was formed on February 21, 1907; it was formerly the northern section of Kootenai County. It was named for travel entrepreneur Edwin L. Bonner, a ferry operator.〔(Bonner County - Idaho.gov )〕 Bonners Ferry is now in Boundary County, which was partitioned in 1915 from Bonner County.
